Happy Friday everyone! I’m very excited for you to meet my newest Snapshots Guest, Ashley Roberts from Ashley Roberts Photography. Ashley and I have been friends since high school, we actually formed a little singing group comprised of my sisters Beth and Katelyn, and Ashley and her sister Emily (who’s getting married! check out her engagement photos here!). We called ourselves RC5 😉 We would’ve been famous but alas the world was not ready for us yet….so sorry you guys had to miss out on that. 🙁

After the sad break up of RC5 due to half of us moving to Florence, SC Ashley found her true calling as a Photographer. She’s AMAZING! She’s actually responsible for some of the photos on this blog. Now, without further ado please meet my friend Ashley.

How would you describe your style?

Its changed a lot. Currently I would say its….someone told me the other day and I can’t remember…let me look it up. I would say its become more chic. I tried the whole bohemian thing but that didn’t work out for me. I noticed other photographers were more minimalistic chic. Lot of blacks and dark colors, not very many patterns, just very minimal and thats my current style.

How has it changed over the years?

In high school I tried the whole vintage thing. so I raided all the thrift stores and put together very eclectic outfits which embarrass the crap out of me now. Eventually that morphed into more of a bohemian style. flowy clothes bright colors etc….but I could never quite commit to it. Then I tried to do the whole hipster look which I still revert back to sometimes. Like beanies, graphic tees and cardigans, but after I started my photography internship last year I noticed how other photographers and artists were dressing so I tried it and liked it ever since.

Whats your favorite place to shop?

H&M, Target and Charlotte Russe

What makes you feel most confident and beautiful?

The color black. I feel more confident when I wear black. Its kinda my comfort zone. Makes me feel thinner and goes with everything. I guess something else that makes me feel beautiful is lipstick it gives me an extra boost of confidence. My go-to is a darker maroon or bright red.

What do you like most about being you?

I like how adaptable I am. I can just fit in anywhere I go and adapt to situations quickly and help others by making them feel comfortable. I also love my job as a photographer. I can’t imagine myself doing anything other than photography even though I discovered my passion for photography later in life its really become a huge part of who I am and has totally changed the way I view the world now.

How so?

I’m always seeing the world through a photographers eye now. I look at color combinations, light, perspectives and how “omg that would make a great background!” even though to others it would look like another building. Because I’m a photographer and my job is to capture peoples special moments I notice more in my everyday life little moments that others might overlook.

What got you into photography?

I first fell in love with photography while taking a Digital Photo class my Junior year of college. Going into Senior year, with a graphic deisgn major I decided to take a leap of faith and switch my major to photography. That was one of the best decisions of my life. Now a graduate from IWU, I am currently living in the beautiful and historic town of Madison, Indiana. Don’t hesitate to check out my website ashleyrobertsphotography.com

I hope you enjoyed this interview! Please be sure to check out Ashley’s website, IG and FB page! And also feel free to browse through other Snapshots interviews 🙂 If you know of someone who would like to be apart of a future Snapshots post let me know!
